Eating well here is easier than it looks
Almost nobody changes how they eat because an article told them to. But moving changes habits on its own: different hours, a different shop, different fruit at the market. That moment is worth using, because afterwards the new habit settles and then it gets hard.
What changes once you arrive
You eat later, you go out more, and there's local produce all year: bananas, papaya, avocado, fish, papas and vegetables that don't depend on the season the way they do up north. The difficult part is usually something else — dinner at ten, snacks on the terrace, and the wine that belongs to a long afternoon because the weather invites it.
It isn't about dieting, it's about balance
The idea isn't three strict weeks and then back to the old routine. What carries your health in the long run are daily habits: real vegetables on most days, enough water in the heat, some movement, enough sleep. It sounds unspectacular — which is exactly why it works.
The blood test nobody gets round to
A routine blood test is the cheapest way to see how things look on the inside: sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure. Most people walk out reassured, and some catch something early enough to fix with food and exercise rather than tablets. If you have health cover it's probably included — better to check before you pay for it yourself.
What your policy includes
That depends on the type of cover, and with health cover also on the medical questionnaire you filled in: two people with the same product can have different cover. So we won't tell you here what 'health insurance' covers in general. Give us your policy number and we'll look it up on the spot.
What this means for you
- Use the local produce: good fruit and vegetables here all year, not just in season.
- Drink in the heat. Thirst arrives late, and here you sweat without noticing.
- One blood test a year says more than any New Year's resolution.
- Ask us whether your policy covers blood tests and check-ups before booking privately.
- If they're covered, book the appointment yourself — no need to come to the office.
- Two identical policies can cover different things: the medical questionnaire counts too.
